Members of the Town Council.

I was not able to attend the hearing tonight so I thought I would

present my remarks to you individually. Last fall Mr. Francis at a

Council meeting explained the consequences of reevaluation. At that

time he indicated to you that taxpayers whose assessment did not

increase over the average of 78% would not pay increased taxes. That

was me. This week in the Courant Mr. Francis indicated that the mill

rate would be 31.43, that means that I will pay 15% more in real

estate taxes almost $900 more than this year. Where will I find it? I

don't know. What has happened since then? Did the big spenders "go

wild". Did they think everyone has millions? Do we need miniature

golf or lighted playing fields using more power creating green house

 gasses.

At this season we remember the call of the patriots to the King of

England " no taxation with out representation". I am lucky to have

representation in my neighborhood. I hope Dr.Thornberry will tell the

folks about this monstrous increase in taxes and work to remove the

burden. Looking at the Council members addresses, I see that the

areas that are going to have the greatest increases taxes have no

representatives. Who will tell those taxpayers. Who will help them?

Don't all citizens have the right to know? Some will pay 50% more,

maybe 100% more. It is not fair to leave taxpayers in the dark till

they get tax bills in June. As their representatives, you have to

tell your constituents now! Will you tell them? Please tell me what are

 you going to do!

Sincerely yours,
